Our name pays tribute to what is believed to be the first “chocolate covered gelato on a stick” which was nicknamed the “Pinguino”.  An Italian gelatier first created this deliciousness in 1939 using old world techniques. After visiting this same gelato shop while in Turin, Italy, the name Pinguino’s Gelato was born.

We have a self-contained bicycle gelato cart imported from Europe and a portable gelato case available for hire. We can customize our menu to allow you to have an unforgettable event. Whether it is a chocolate covered gelato on a stick customized live for guests on-site or artisanal gelato in a cup or fresh made cone, we have something unique for your guests!

We work with local dairies, farmers, and suppliers to ensure the best ingredients are used in the production of our all-natural gelato. Our gelato is handcrafted in artisanal small batches. When we say “artisanal,” what we’re really trying to convey is the hundreds of years of gelato history, knowledge, and expertise passed down through mentors that is behind each bite.

Gelato is synonymous with Italy. It is the Italian word for ‘frozen’. Here are some things you may not know about gelato:

  • Gelato contains less butterfat (4% to about 10%) than ice cream (11% to 20%+). Gelato is creamier, smoother, and silkier than ice cream. In the gelato-making process, less air is incorporated while churning, which is how gelato achieves its creamy texture with less fat than traditional American-style ice cream.

  • Richer in texture, gelato incorporates less air than ice cream (ice cream can double in volume because of air).

  • Though the name means ‘frozen’, Gelato is served warmer than ice cream, around 7 to 12 degrees Fahrenheit, which leaves your mouth less numb so you are better able to taste the intense flavors...

  • Pinguino's Gelato is made using thoughtfully selected ingredients.
